    The Office of Alumni and Development (OAD) at Columbia University seeks a dynamic and innovative Deputy Vice President (DVP) for Finance to join the Executive Management Team. The DVP reports to the Senior Vice President for University Development (SVP). In collaboration with the SVP and the Executive Management Team, the DVP provides overall strategic leadership for the department and supports long-term program growth and financial viability. The DVP directly assists the SVP on all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to budget management, cost benefit analysis, managerial accounting, forecasting needs and the securing of new funding. This role is responsible for strategically planning, leading, and managing all financial functions of OAD.              

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, management or related field and ten years of progressive experience. Master’s degree preferred.
    • At least eight years of management experience and eight years of experience in a higher education or similarly complex financial environment.
    • Demonstrated success managing 8 figure budgets.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to articulate complex or technical concepts clearly to generalists and broad audiences.
    • Strong background in internal financial reporting, with an emphasis on strategy and managerial accounting.
    • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
    • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and advanced Excel skills..
    • Experience with a variety of analytical and business intelligence tools preferred.
    • Basic understanding of statistics required.
    • Background in streamlining and automating processes to increase efficiency, timeliness, and accuracy.
    • Proven track record of strategically aligning resources to meet the needs of the organization.
    • Demonstrated background in teaching and/or training staff at all levels.
